Interface
The test form that the test subject sees will depend on the specifications within
the test document. The test document can specify that the first form is a demographic
form that the user enters identifying information (Figure 2-4). The test form can
display a multiple choice bubble form or a fill-in-the-blank form (Figures 5-7).
Other test forms can be displayed. In addition, tests can contain several sections.
The test document could specify that the test subjects can move back to old sections,
or it could force the user to move only to new sections. If the user can only move
to new sections, forms are displayed that verify that the test subject really wants
to move on the next section. (Figures 8-9)

In addition, the Test Display module can include, but is not limited to the
following user interface elements.

The number of questions, the number and type of choices, and the number of sections
are determined by the Test document.

A mechanism is provided for displaying questions that may be textual, audio, or
visual.

A mechanism is provided for displaying the answer choices.
-
A mechanism that allow the user to scroll a certain number of questions forward
or backward.

Automatic scroll option that automatically advances the screen forward a certain number
of questions when the user answers the question at the bottom of the screen.

A scroll bar that advances the user any number of questions forward or backward.
-
“Clear” buttons that automatically clears the answer to a selected question.

Button or menu item that allows access to other “approved” applications. Other application must
contain a way of locking out non-approved applications and a way to get back to the original
test application.(Figure 10).

An indicator that determines the total number of test questions and the number of
test questions answered so far.

A timer display that indicates the amount of time that a user has left. The timer display can be
hidden if the userdesires.

A mechanism that allows user to easily go to remaining unanswered question.

A mechanism that allows to user to go quickly to any question.
-
A mechanism for moving to next section or the end of test.

If the test document specifies this test is self-correcting, then a mechanism must
be provided to allow users to “grade” the test. A mechanism is provided to indicated which
question were answered right and wrong. An indicator is provided to show the final score.

If the test document specifies this test can be stored, then a mechanism is
provided for storing the test document, the test subject’s answers, and the
tester’s answers.

A mechanism is provided for initiating uploads/ downloads.
