Word
Gin Rummy:
Objective
Each player discards a card
face-up onto the table and picks up a card from the deck. When a player's
turn comes and that player can use the cards on the table to create words,
the player picks up all of the cards on the table and uses those cards
to form words. The game is over when a player is first to have no cards
in the hands - "Gin."
Instructions
- Shuffle the deck of cards.
- Deal out seven cards face-down
to each player. The players can look at the faces of their own cards
as they are being dealt. Do not let anyone else see the faces of your
cards.
- Place the remaining cards
face-down in a large stack.
- All of the players uses
the cards in their hands to create as many words. Form the words on
the table. If all of the other players agree that the word is valid,
you may gather cards forming your words together in a small stack by
you.
- If no player has Gin -
no cards in their hands - the dealer discards a card face-up onto the
table and picks up a card from the large stack. Going around in a circle,
each player discards a card face up on the table, and picks up a card
from the large stack.
- If during a player's turn,
(s)he thinks they can use the face-up cards on the table with their
own cards to form words, they can and must pick up all of the face-up
cards on the table. Then they must form the words on the table for all
of the other players can see. If the other players agree that the words
are valid words, then the player can gather the cards in his/her small
stack of cards.
- The game continues until
someone gets "Gin". "Gin" occurs when a player no longer has any cards
in their hands. At that moment, each player adds up the total number
of points from the words they have formed. This number is added to the
players game score. The winner also gets the sum of all the points from
the cards which have remained in the other players' hands when the game
ended.
- Players continue playing
games until someone is the first to reach a previously agreed upon total
score.
